Sizing and Fit

How do I know if the shoes fit properly?

The fit that someone prefers is very subjective, but a rather snug fit from the start is generally ideal. The leather will stretch, and adapt to the shape of your feet. Make sure that you fill out your shoes completely at the widest part of your shoe, since you will get a lot of excess creasing if this area is too spacious.

You want to have a bit of excess space inside the toe box since that area won’t adapt to your feet due to the hard counters in the toe cap.

Lace the shoes properly when trying your shoes. This will prevent your heels from sliding up and down. The lacing of the shoe should preferably not be fully closed, as this won’t allow you to tighten the laces. The size of the opening varies from person to person, but it should be between 0.5-1.5 centimeters open.

How do I choose the right size?

USE OUR SIZING TOOL

If you have access to a smartphone and a white piece of paper, you can use our digital size recommendation tool Volumental. Simply click the "Find my size" button on our product page, and we will guide you through the process.

ALREADY HAVE A PAIR OF MYRQVIST?

If you already have a pair of well fitting Myrqvist shoes, we recommend you to choose the same size on all our models, except for our jumper boots (Abisko, Tjärnö and Gothem). These models are larger in fit, and we therefore advise you do size down half a size.

BUYING YOUR FIRST PAIR OF MYRQVIST?

If you are planning to buy your first pair of Myrqvist shoes, we recommend you to first check out our last guide, and also our size guide. You can also e-mail us at info@myrqvist.se, and let us know what shoe brands, lasts and sizes you currently wear. We will then recommend you a size accordingly.

What is a last?

A last is a plastic or wooden mold that will give the shoe its shape. The piece of leather is pulled over the last, and is then left to form after it. A wider last equals a wider shoe, and vice versa.

How many different lasts do you offer?

We currently have six different lasts. Read more about them here

Shoe Care

How do I take care of my Calf Leather shoes?

  • Use shoe trees to ensure that your shoes maintain their shape.
  • Brush off superficial dust and dirt after each wear, and rotate your shoes to prevent wearing the same pair two days in a row.
  • Polish your shoes regularly to keep the leather soft and subtle. We recommend using Saphir Crème Pommadier. You can either apply it with an application brush, or a polishing cloth. Buff off excess shoe cream using a horsehair brush.
  • Apply a thin layer of wax over the shoe for extra protection and shine. We recommend using Saphir Pâte de Luxe. Buff to a shine using a horsehair brush.

Production and Materials

Where do you produce your shoes?

All of our shoes are produced in northern Portugal. We mainly use one factory for our dress shoes and another for our casuals, with a few exceptions.

We have chosen our factories carefully to ensure they produce all shoes with a high attention to detail.

What kind of leather do you use?

The majority of our smooth calf leather is from France - Tanneries Du Puy.

Our shoes in the very appreciated and popular country calf is sourced from Marsipel located in Portugal.

What kind of suede do you use?

We mainly source our suede from the tannery Charles F. Stead located in England.
For some of our more casuals shoes, for example Solvik and Stensund, we source suedes from two tanneries in Italy - Mastrotto and Zabri.

Should I choose a leather or a rubber sole?

That depends on how you are planning on wearing your shoes.

The leather sole gives a classic, slightly thinner and more elegant look but will wear out a bit faster. Especially when subjected to a wetter climate.

The half rubber sole will last a bit longer and will also protect you better worn in wet conditions. It still gives an elegant look, while being a bit more robust.
