Production and materials
Where do you have your production?
All our shoes are manufactured in Portugal in a factory with a long heritage of fine shoemaking. The family owned factory is run by the third generation, and they have good relations with tanneries and last makers in Europe.
What kind of leather do you use?
We exclusively source our full grain leather from the tannery Du Puy in France. This tannery has been in business since 1946, and a lot of well renowned shoemakers source their leather from them.

What kind of suede do you use?
We exclusively source our suede from the tannery Charles F. Stead in the UK.
We only select reversed calf, which is thicker, and lasts longer than split suede.

Should I choose a leather sole or a rubber sole?
Which type of sole you should go for completely depends on how and where you are going to wear your shoes.
If you live in a rainy environment, we highly recommend the rubber sole, since it will withstand water well, and it also lasts slightly longer. If you will mainly walk on dry streets and/or indoors, the leather sole will be the option for you. It also breathes better than the rubber sole, and it is more flexible.
Please note that you can always resole your shoes. You can therefore switch from a rubber sole to a leather sole, or vice versa.
Lasts and fit
What is a last?
A last is a plastic or wooden mold that will give the shoe its shape. The piece of leather is pulled over the last, and is then left to form after it. A wider last equals a wider shoe, and vice versa.
How many different lasts do you offer?
We currently have six different lasts. Read more about them here
How do I choose the right size?
If you already have a pair of well fitting Myrqvist shoes, we recommend you to choose the same size on all our models, except for our jumper boots (Abisko, Tjärnö and Gothem). These models are larger in fit, and we therefore advise you do size down half a size.
If you are planning to buy your first pair of Myrqvist shoes, we recommend you to first check out our last guide, and also our size chart. You can also e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and let us know what shoe brands, lasts and sizes you currently wear. We will then recommend you a size accordingly.
How do I know if the shoes fit?
The fit that someone prefers is very subjective, but a rather snug fit from the start is generally ideal. The leather will stretch, and adapt to the shape of your feet. Make sure that you fill out your shoes completely at the widest part of your shoe, since you will get a lot of excess creasing if this area is too spacious.
You want to have a bit of excess space inside the toe box since that area won’t adapt to your feet due to the hard counters in the toe cap.
Lace the shoes properly when trying your shoes. This will prevent your heels from sliding up and down. The lacing of the shoe should preferably not be fully closed, as this won’t allow you to tighten the laces. The size of the opening varies from person to person, but it should be between 0.5-1.5 centimeters open.

How do I take care of my smooth calf shoes?
Always use shoe trees when not using the shoes.
Brush off superficial dust and dirt after each wear, and rotate your shoes to prevent wearing the same pair two days in a row.
Polish your shoes regularly to keep the leather soft and subtle. We recommend using Saphir Crème Pommadier. You can either apply it with an application brush, or a polishing cloth. Buff off excess shoe cream using a horsehair brush.
Apply a thin layer of wax over the shoe for extra protection and shine. We recommend using Saphir Pâte de Luxe. Buff to a shine using a horsehair brush
How do I take care of my country calf shoes?
Follow the same steps as for smooth calf, but avoid the last step of applying wax. The wax will clog up the pores, and eventually crack due to the structure of country calf. Applying wax to the hard counters such as the toe box and the heel cap in order to achieve a spit shine still works fine, since those areas won’t crease and crack the wax.
How do I take care of my suede shoes?
Always put shoe trees in the shoes when not in use.
Waterproof your new shoes by using Saphir Super Invulner.
Regularly use a suede brush to lift up the hairs, and remove superficial dust and dirt.
To completely renovate your suede shoes, we recommend using a suede shampoo to thoroughly clean them. Mix 1 part Saphir Omninettoyant Cleaner with two parts water, and work the mixture into the suede using a small brush. Rinse off excess shampoo, and let dry for 24 hours. When dry, lift up the hairs using a suede brush, then use a pigmented spray - we recommend the Saphir Renovateur Spray, this is to enrich the color and restore the luster. Finally, waterproof by using Saphir Super Invulner.
